The BRT lane on Shahrisabz Street has been put into operation

In order to give priority to public transport and organize bus movement more quickly and stably in Tashkent city, the first stage of the BRT lane on Shahrisabz Street has been put into operation.

This stage of the project covered a 1.2-kilometer section from the roundabout intersection of Shahrisabz, Mirobod, and Shota Rustaveli streets to the intersection with Amir Temur Avenue.

🏗 During the construction process, work was not limited to renewing the existing asphalt pavement. Taking into account the regular movement and constant load of high-capacity buses on the BRT lane, the underlying structure of the road was completely rebuilt.

For this purpose, excavation works were carried out to a depth of more than 2 meters in some sections, the existing base was removed, and the road foundation was reshaped. A geotextile covering was laid in order to reduce soil moisture, soil displacement, and the risk of subsequent subsidence.

After that, the road base was strengthened step by step:
— a 35-centimeter-thick sand-gravel mixture was laid;
— a reinforcing layer of M-75 grade was formed;
— a 9-centimeter-thick coarse-grained asphalt-concrete layer was laid;
— PSHMA-20 with a thickness of 5 centimeters was used as the final covering.

🚌 Within the framework of the BRT infrastructure, 5 new bus stops were organized and a separate traffic lane for public transport was formed. The BRT lane was physically separated from the general traffic flow by curbs.

This solution helps buses move with less dependence on congestion, ensures the stability of intervals, and improves the possibility of safely entering and exiting stops.

🚧 During construction, road traffic was not completely stopped. Works were carried out step by step on the central lanes, while vehicle movement was maintained on the outer right lanes in both directions of the street.

📍 This 1.2-kilometer section is the first stage of forming the BRT infrastructure on Shahrisabz Street. Within the overall project, it is planned to organize a BRT lane on approximately a 3-kilometer section of Shahrisabz Street.

The commissioning of the new BRT section on Shahrisabz Street became a continuation of the work being carried out to gradually form a modern street infrastructure in the capital that gives priority to public transport.
